CM



Collection of Black & White Paintings using traditional oil painting techniques combined with an Asian sense of design, in particular Japanese black and white woodblock prints. Trained at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sophia University, Tokyo and studied in the protégés of fame mid 20th Century Japanese woodblock artist Hiratsuka and Munakata.


The black and white imagery vibrate. The paintings often have strong patterns, bold brush strokes and artistic distortions. An added dimension, they are highly textured, and this is attributed to layers of oil paint on board - ironically all paintings start off inf full color and on occasion a bit of color may peak through.

My paintings explore the relationship between memory and environment drawing on experience of formal education, military and international hospitality career. Creativity certainly plays and important part of paintings but even more importantly it influences everyday life - a priceless commodity.
